Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how OrcaLayer works.

What is OrcaLayer?+
OrcaLayer is the clean data layer for Polymarket whale tracking. We index every trade from the Polygon blockchain, apply the Farmer Filter to remove airdrop farmer wallets, correct for NegRisk multi-outcome markets, and publish our full methodology. Free tier includes leaderboard access, 10 wallet lookups per day for anonymous visitors (20 with a free signup), ISW Ukraine Territory Monitor, and the public Telegram channel @orcalayer.
How does the Farmer Filter work?+
The Farmer Filter detects wallets that systematically buy near settled markets (average buy price approaching 100 cents) to harvest near-guaranteed penny profits and rack up volume for airdrop rewards. These wallets produce gorgeous win rates with almost no skill. We flag and exclude them from Smart Money rankings — roughly 98 percent of fake-skill wallets removed before you see the leaderboard. See methodology §04.
What is a NegRisk-corrected win rate?+
Polymarket multi-outcome markets (US elections, country-of-X markets) are built under the hood as linked Yes/No outcomes. Without correction, a single winning position is double-counted across all linked legs, inflating both win rate and P&L. OrcaLayer halves resolved profit on NegRisk markets and divides split/merge cash across linked outcomes — so one win counts as one win. See methodology §05.
How does OrcaLayer differ from Polymarket Analytics?+
Polymarket Analytics ranks wallets by raw P&L volume. OrcaLayer ranks by real skill — roughly 16 percent of their top traders are airdrop farmers and bot wallets that our Farmer Filter strips out before you see the leaderboard. We also publish our full methodology and add NegRisk correction plus ISW Ukraine territory signals.
Who built OrcaLayer?+
OrcaLayer was built by Viktor Maevskyi (@EkoCam on X / Twitter). Public methodology is at /methodology. For corrections or feedback, reach out via @orcalayer on Telegram.
How do you find whales?+

We index every Polymarket trade from the Polygon blockchain into our own database — over 945 million trades since launch. Each night a job groups trades by wallet, computes per-outcome wins and losses against closed-market resolutions, and applies NegRisk multi-outcome adjustments.

Wallets surface in the Leaderboard once they have at least 10 resolved markets, sorted by your chosen metric (P&L, win rate, ROI, volume).

What does “Smart Money” mean?+

A wallet is flagged as Smart Money when all three are true: market win rate is 55% or higher, total P&L is positive, and the wallet is not classified as a farmer.

Farmersare wallets that load up on near-resolved markets at above 95¢ to capture pennies — they're excluded so their inflated win rates don't pollute rankings. Bots (more than 500K trades with average trade size under $20) are detected separately and can be filtered out from any view.

Is this financial advice?+

No. OrcaLayer is a Business Intelligence tool that analyzes publicly available Polygon blockchain data. We don't provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. We aren't a bookmaker, exchange, or trading platform — we don't accept bets, hold funds, or execute trades. Past performance of any wallet doesn't guarantee future results.

See Risk Disclosure for the full statement.

How fresh is the data?+

Three layers, three speeds:

  • Premium WebSocket feed— our relay forwards trade events sub-second from Polymarket's on-chain confirmation. (Polymarket V2 batches submissions every ~60–120 seconds for gas savings — structural settlement window inherited by all on-chain feeds.)
  • On-chain indexer — Polygon blocks polled every 5 seconds. This is the source of truth used for analytics.
  • ISW frontline— ArcGIS metadata is checked every 5 seconds during ISW's active publish window (13:00–19:00 UTC) and every 30 seconds otherwise. Heavy map data is downloaded only when a layer actually changes.
Why subscribe to Premium?+

Premium ($19.99/mo) gives the full Pro telegram experience with 4× higher limits, plus programmatic access on the website.

In the Telegram bot you configure:

  • Watched whales— up to 100 wallets (Pro: 25), each with your own “alert me only on trades above $X” threshold.
  • Watched markets — up to 100 markets (Pro: 25), with the same per-list dollar threshold.
  • ISW Territory alerts — up to 20 cities with your chosen minimum severity (HIGH / MEDIUM / LOW).
  • Custom filters— categories, BUY/SELL side, hide extreme prices (98¢+ / 2¢-).

On the website you also get programmatic access:

  • Real-time whale trade feed over WebSocket (relay from Polymarket with sub-second relay from on-chain settlement — for copy-traders and algorithms).
  • Premium REST API — 1000 requests per minute, plus endpoints unavailable without a key (whale-trades by market, wallet trade history, market summary as-of timestamp).
  • ISW proximity JSON API — distance to control / advances polygons per city.
  • Custom webhooks for piping events to your own Discord, Slack, or internal systems.

Pro ($9.99/mo) gives the same telegram logic with 25/25 limits. Full comparison: pricing.

What chains do you track?+

Polygon only. Polymarket settles every trade and resolution on Polygon's contracts, and Polymarket itself is the only market we cover today. Order matching happens off-chain via Polymarket's orderbook, which we also capture in real time through WebSocket.

How do payments work?+

Two providers. Whop handles credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay. NOWPaymentshandles crypto — USDC, USDT, ETH, BTC, and around 50 other coins. You pick at checkout. We don't store card numbers or wallet credentials — they go directly to the provider.

Can I cancel my subscription?+

Yes, anytime. Open Settings and find your active plan card — click Manage / Cancel. For card subscriptions this opens the Whop billing portal where you can cancel in one click; access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.

Crypto subscriptions are one-shot purchases — they simply expire when the period ends, no cancellation needed. No contracts, no commitments.

Why are some markets missing?+

We track around 900,000 Polymarket markets. A market may not appear if it was created and removed by Polymarket before being indexed, was deactivated by Polymarket post-resolution (we keep the historical trades but the market metadata can disappear), or comes from early Polymarket markets where on-chain metadata was incomplete and can't be recovered after the fact.

Wallet trade history shows everything we have, even when the market metadata is incomplete.

How does ISW Monitor work?+

The Institute for the Study of War publishes a daily Ukraine territory map via ArcGIS — control, recent advances, and 24-hour gains. We track the most active Polymarket front-line markets through per-market geographies we maintain — points or zones drawn around the specific city, settlement, or area each market resolves on.

Every few seconds we ask ArcGIS only “has anything changed?” (a cheap metadata probe) and pull the heavy map data only when a layer actually moves. For each market subscription we compute the closest distance from its zone to the Russian-controlled polygon and assign a threat level: HIGH (under 500 m), MEDIUM (under 1.5 km), LOW (under 3 km), or SAFE.

Premium subscribers get a JSON API with the same data; everyone with the bot gets Telegram alerts.

What's the difference between Pro and Premium tiers?+

Both Pro ($9.99/mo) and Premium ($19.99/mo) share the Farmer Filter, Smart Money classification, NegRisk-corrected win rates, and ISW Ukraine signals.

Pro gives the full Telegram bot experience (25 watched whales, 25 markets, 25 ISW alerts) plus full leaderboard and Smart Score on the website.

Premium adds 4× higher Telegram limits (100/100/100), real-time WebSocket trade feed, REST API at 600 req/min, ISW Premium JSON, and custom webhooks. Choose Premium if you need programmatic access for trading bots or dashboards — see /developers.

Is the OrcaLayer methodology open source?+
The methodology itself is fully public — see /methodologyfor every algorithm: how the Farmer Filter classifies wallets, how NegRisk correction divides resolved profit across linked outcomes, how Smart Money scoring requires 55%+ market win rate plus positive P&L plus 10+ resolved markets, and how ISW distance is computed. The implementation code (indexer, classifiers, database) is not open source — but we publish enough detail to audit the logic and reproduce calculations from public Polygon blockchain data.
Does OrcaLayer have a public API?+
Yes. Public endpoints under /api/public/v1/* are open without authentication (Cloudflare-throttled). Premium tier ($19.99/mo) unlocks /api/v2/* with Bearer token auth at 600 requests/minute — covering wallet profiles, whale alerts, conviction clusters, whale flips, market detail with smart-money positioning. Full machine-readable spec at /api/openapi.json. See /developers for Python code samples.
What rate limits apply to the OrcaLayer API?+
Free public endpoints (/api/public/v1/*) are Cloudflare-throttled — sustained burst-friendly for community alert bots without a key. Premium tier: 600 requests/minute baseline against all /api/v2/* endpoints; higher caps available on request for production usage. Excess returns HTTP 429 with Retry-After header.
Can I use OrcaLayer to build trading bots?+
Yes. Both Free public endpoints and Premium tier allow commercial use, including trading bots, paid dashboards, and research products. We don't take a cut of trades, don't require disclosure, don't restrict use case. The only operational limit is rate (Cloudflare on Free, 600 req/min on Premium). See /developers for a Python whale-polling bot loop example. For high-throughput production loads, contact support for a custom rate increase.
How does OrcaLayer differ from Polywhaler?+
Polywhaler covers similar Polymarket whale data, but OrcaLayer adds three things Polywhaler does not: a published methodology (Polywhaler keeps theirs proprietary), the Farmer Filter excluding airdrop farmers from leaderboards, NegRisk correction halving double-counted multi-outcome wins, and ISW Ukraine territory overlay on 50+ frontline markets. Pricing is similar at $9-10/month for Pro. See /vs/polywhaler.
How does OrcaLayer differ from Polysights?+
Polysights focuses on AI-scored predictions and experimental market analysis. OrcaLayer is data-layer focused — we don't predict outcomes, we surface clean whale data with a published methodology. OrcaLayer adds the Farmer Filter and NegRisk correction that Polysights does not, plus ISW Ukraine signals. See /vs/polysights for a side-by-side.
What languages does OrcaLayer support?+
English (default) and Russian. The dashboard — leaderboard, wallet detail, markets, ISW Territory — is in English. Russian-language landing pages at /ru/* cover the methodology, Farmer Filter explainer, ISW Ukraine markets, and competitor comparisons translated for cyrillic search demand. Russian users route into the shared English dashboard with all features available. Telegram alerts are English-only today.
Does OrcaLayer collect personal data?+
Minimal. We don't require an account to browse the dashboard — anonymous visitors get 10 wallet lookups per 24 hours. Free signup increases that to 20 and captures only your email or wallet address (your choice). Payment details go directly to Whop (cards) or NOWPayments (crypto) — we don't see card numbers or wallet credentials. Telegram alerts route through @orcalayer_bot which captures your Telegram ID for delivery. No third-party tracking pixels beyond standard analytics. See /privacy.
Can I place trades through OrcaLayer?+
No. OrcaLayer is analytics-only. We surface what's happening on Polymarket but never accept bets, hold user funds, route trades, or earn from trade execution. To act on what you see here, place trades directly at polymarket.com. Some pages may include referral links to Polymarket as transparently disclosed — that never affects what data we show.
What is a 'smart wallet' in OrcaLayer terminology?+
A wallet earns the Smart Money badge after three conditions are simultaneously true on the same address: per-market win rate of 55% or higher, positive total realized P&L (NegRisk-corrected), and not classified as a farmer or bot. The wallet also needs at least 10 distinct resolved markets traded — this filters lucky one-hit traders. The Smart Score (Pro feature) is a 0-100 granular skill rating that ranks Smart Money wallets against each other beyond the binary badge.
What is the OrcaLayer mascot?+
An orca wearing headphones. It represents the platform's role as a focused listener to on-chain whale activity — quietly surfacing patterns that matter from the noise of Polymarket's 945+ million indexed trades. The orca is OrcaLayer; the headphones are our methodology, picking up signal the raw leaderboard misses.
How do I contact OrcaLayer support?+
@orcalayer on Telegram is the fastest channel — read personally by founder Viktor Maevskyi (@EkoCam on X). Premium subscribers get priority support with response under 24h. For billing-specific issues, use Whop (for card subscriptions) or NOWPayments (for crypto) portals reachable from your subscription card in Settings.
